I’m not afraid to go where I’m uncomfortable to stand for love. I’m a dove with claws.
Johnny Cash
I heard this quote for the first time just 10 days before I was set to board the first flight of many. I remember thinking how scared I was of the what if’s. And then I remembered that what if’s are the way our fear keeps us in our comfort zone. Whether it’s fear to let yourself shine, let yourself love, let yourself live, or let yourself just be, fear can be real… but it isn’t a reality. Your reality is what you make it.
I didn’t allow the fear to be my reality. For as scary as the journey seemed, the excitement of what lied ahead outweighed the fear. What would I be missing out on if I decided not to go and instead to stay in my comfort zone? There was only one way to know… Just … Go.
Comfort can stunt our growth and can suffocate our soul. Everything we desire or dream of is available to us but it’s located outside our comfort zone. Once we acknowledge the fear and let it go, becoming fearless is easy and then the possibilities are limitless.
It’s a simple truth.
